After mostly recovering from yesterday's sickness, I was ready to start exploring NYC. Was still not feeling 100% however so kept my roaming to Williamsburg. James and I had breakfast at this super cute organic place
The table cloths were butchers paper and every table had a little jar off crayons. It was that sort of place. I had pancakes, which were good but I'm still a little fragile so didn't eat a heap.
Then James and I went our separate ways, well James is still feeling a bit terrible so he spent the day in bed again. Poor James : [ Actually after breakfast I came back to the apartment because NOTHING opens until 11am. Crazy old Williamsburg. Mark was online so that was nice <3
I like this ad, prolly because it's so American
I wandered up and down, from N 1st St to N 1oth st. These little guys are everywhere
These things are everywhere too - I haven't actually bothered to look up what they are yet... Water tanks? Anyway this shop had shirts that said "I *watertank* BK" I might buy one for a daggy tourist thing.
I think Neck Face may be a local, his stuff is all over w.burg?
By pure chance, I stumbled across Toy Toyko, who have a Brooklyn store I wasn't even aware off. I kind of just saw some toys in the window front and went in - pretty much made this face : 0 First time I'd been in a toy-only store and it was frkn awesome, they had a huge range of stuff, including the Eastern Super 7 junk and a lot of less mainstream gear - were pretty light on the KidRobot stuff which was nice. I controlled myself however and only bought an I.W.G Mini Figure Set (Covert Black Special Edition). Will save most of the toy buying for SDCC. The shop keep was v. nice. I am still umming and aaaring over this sweet ghost necklace that was in there, it ruled a fair bit but was $80. Hmmmm.
I was trying to explain these things to Mark over the internet with little success, each shop has a basement but a lot tend to leave the doors open - I'm a little paranoid of falling in one when drunk : /
Clothes wise there were some pretty good shops, a cute little boutique had some interesting stuff - including jelly shoes! I'm not entirely sure on my stance on those howeves so letting them stand. There were two vintage stores I was eager to look at but both were closed. grrr. I did go to a store which was kind of second hand, they buy and sell clothes so it's some vintage and some newer. If that makes sense. Anyway I dropped about $50 there and came away with five pieces. There is a sewing machine in our apartment which is totally excellent.
I also did some grocery shopping, am paranoid of putting on heaps of weight while I'm over here, guessing this wont help
I can not wait until breakfast tommoz. In my defence I did resist the pop tarts and also the "Ben and Jerry" Icecream, who have a flavour which is fudge covered, caramel filled pretzels in vanilla ice-cream w/ fudge and peanut butter. ooooh my.
We are going to Panda Bear tonight, first night out! Rly hope James is feeling better...
