Todd P Show

This is what Wiki says about Todd P:

Todd P (aka Todd Patrick) is an organizer and promoter of underground DIY and indie rock shows and parties in New York City. Patrick was born in 1975 in Indiana.

Todd Patrick began organizing concerts in Brooklyn, New York under the name "Todd P" in 2001, first at several lofts, and later in the upstairs lounge of the Cafe Right Bank in Williamsburg. Patrick garnered particular attention for throwing events in the diminutive back room of Tommy's Tavern in Greenpoint, Brooklyn.

Todd P's shows now provide a respected forum for indie rock acts to perform, primarily in the Williamsburg, Greenpoint, and Bushwick areas of Brooklyn, New York, and in the Lower East Side of Manhattan - a "bohemian" community with a great concentration of independent music fans. Patrick's shows have hosted bands on most of the more prominent independent labels, including Vice Records, Jagjaguar, Kill Rock Stars, K Records, Ecstatic Peace, Load Records, and others. Past performers at Todd P shows have included Lightning Bolt, Animal Collective, Black Dice, Afrirampo, the Homosexuals, Weird War, Black Lips, Spank Rock, The Slits, The Fall, and Sonic Youth's Thurston Moore.

We went to one of his shows last night, it was held in this big empty warhouse. This pic was taken pretty early in the night - by the time bands started it was pretty much packed.
Todd P seemed to have a pretty good handle on running these things, the copz showed up but left and didn't bother us after that. Between every set Todd would get up and tell peeps NOT TO HANG OUTSIDE, i guess it worked. He also has "interns", like these 18yr kids who run shit. Pretty good. Anyway there was a bar selling shitty beer for $3 - I had about 5 before I relised that they prolly were'nt going to get me that drunk, and if i kept drinking I'd have to keep going to the porta loo - which was pitch black and smelt like, well ass I guess

Luckily I have thighs of steel and did the pee squat thing w/ ease. Thank you BodyPump. So apart from standing around looking cool we also saw some bands, these guys were calledThe Death Set I'd listened to their stuff on MySpaz and liked it, but the sound was terrible so it wasn't that great. They said they were from Australia but they sounded like Americans to me. Hmmm.I've heard some pretty terrible band names, but Best Fwends is among the worst. They were kinda fun though.

The last band was Matt and Kim who were two guys with a keyboard and drums.. They were pretty fun and I got the impression pretty big in NY. Maybe they'll get heaps famous and I can say "oh yah, those guise, I totally saw them in some warehouse in NYC like ages ago" and then put on some shades. Like this B ]

Today is going to be busy - we are trying somehow fit in the Coney Island Mermaid Festival (I've been told to expect tits. woooooo), The Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival (GHOSTFACE), this toy art show opening and some band James wants to go see. Whew.
